Tell Me About It
The HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone for Sprint is an Android smartphone that is as brilliant as it is fast. The bright, 4.7" HD touchscreen brings photos to life and is large enough for easy texting on the virtual keyboard, especially when using the popular SWYPE option. The latest Android operating system (OS) update, Android 4.2.2 Jellybean, brings intelligent features to life that make you wonder how you lived without such a smart smartphone before. The camera's shutter is so speedy and the pictures so vivid, that I've put away my point-and-shoot forever. (In fact, I think I'll recycle my old camera for cash soon at Wirefly Trade-ins).
Who It's Good For
Anyone can learn to use this smartphone, but it will really shine in the hands of a seasoned smartphone user and/or folks that love technology. It will fit seamlessly into the life of a busy mom, a savvy professional, a college student, and, really, just about all of us who need help staying connected, informed, and organized while on-the-go.
What Makes It Great
Running the latest Android OS from Google, the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone has innovative features that will simply amaze.
- I LOVE Google Now and its instinctive cards that appear automatically with vital information just as I need it.
- The HD touchscreen is spacious and bright, and complemented by the kickstand for hands-free viewing.
- The primary 8 megapixel camera has a zero-lag shutter and it performs great in low-light conditions - and, let's face it, most of our photos are taken in low-light.
- The built-in Mobile Hotspot capability takes away the anxiety of hunting for public WiFi connections that aren't always secure. Make your own, personal hotspot anywhere for secure internet access for up to 8 WiFi devices, like tablets, laptops, gaming systems, and more.
Why This is Wirefly BUZZworthy
The HTC EVO 4G LTE Android smartphone for Sprint launched in June 2012 in the black color, followed by the white color in September 2012. Because the latest Android OS, Android 4.2.2 Jellybean, is available as an over-the-air (OTA) update from Sprint, the HTC EVO 4G LTE is running on the latest technology and has amazing features you won't find on smartphones released at the same time. My absolute favorite part about the Android 4.2.2 update is Google Now. It is almost errie how smart Google Now is... when you have an upcoming calendar event, a warning (called a 'card') will pop-up on your phone's display telling you what time you need to leave by to arrive on time for the event. Even more amazing, Google Now seems to learn your habits and display cards as you need them, even before you know you need them. For example, every morning my Google Now-capable EVO 4G LTE smartphone automatically displays the traffic report of my commute. It does the same at the end of the day. Beyond calendar events, it can capture important information in email and other apps too.
Here is a screen capture of my Google Now cards on my HTC EVO 4G LTE this afternoon:
In the past, I've wondered if I'd get the iPhone when I was eligible for an upgrade, but after using the HTC EVO 4G LTE and the Google Now cards, I can't image using anything other than an Andriod smartphone. The widgets and personalization of Android are unbeatable.
Of course, not all Android smartphones are created equal and the HTC EVO 4G LTE is a spectacular achievement in technology, design, and user experience.
The HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone for Sprint is large at 4.7", without being too large to use with one hand. The spacious HD touchscreen means you don't block the screen from view as your fingers scroll a website, tap out a social network update, or pinch-and-zoom pictures.
Streaming movies is where this smartphone really stands-out as it stands-up in both landscape and portrait mode with a stylish kickstand. I admit, it seems like a silly feature at first. Once you use the kickstand for handsfree viewing, though, you'll appreciate the careful thought that went into every detail of the intelligent design of the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone. Plus the popular BeatsAudio technology, of Dr. Dre fame, and stereo speakers create a premium entertainment experience for an individual or to share with a whole crowd.
Here is how I watch videos of mini goats using the well-designed kickstand on the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone:
Smartphone manufacturers are packing in more and more camera features and megapixels, and HTC is no exception. The primary camera on the HTC EVO 4G LTE is an 8 megapixel wonder that includes slow motion video, which is great capturing pet and child antics even in low light. The zero-lag shutter means you capture the moment and not the moment after, while Camera modes like panoramic and macro help to ensure you capture the moment in focus. Use the smartphone's preloaded editing options (I love Auto Enhance) or your favorite Android editing apps to get the perfect photo or video. Then share your best shots instantly and wirelessly via social networks, apps like Instagram, email, message, or even Near Field Communication (NFC). The possibilities for sharing are nearly limitless.

Speaking of sharing, have you heard of Mobile Hotspots? A mobile hotspot is a personal, WiFi hotspot that you can create anywhere, anytime with the HTC EVO 4G LTE. It is a life-saver when you need to connect a laptop to the internet for work or you want to stream your kids' favorite movie to keep them quite on a long road-trip. An optional feature when you select a Sprint plan for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the mobile hotspot is an add-on that is well-worth it to have secure internet access for up to 8 WiFi-capable devices at once, without worrying about finding a public, and potentially unsecured, WiFi connection.
The HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone comes fully-loaded with the latest Android technology and impressive hardware. Pair this Android super-smartphone with Sprint's unlimited data plans, because you'll never want to put it down.
