Why This is Wirefly BUZZworthy

If there's something strange in the neighborhood...add it to Ghost Tour! Being an enthusiast of ghost stories and haunted houses, I was on the hunt for an app that would locate real haunted locations around me. Well, guess what!? There is an app for that! It's called Ghost Tour. Ghost Tour was designed to allow anyone to enter a real life haunted location. I found this to be interesting because there were hauntings listed that you may not find in any books. There is a good mix of unique stories, but also contains stories of some of my favorite haunts.

You can search by state or by map, which is set near your location. There is a tab called "My Places" which saves any place that you enter in yourself. There is also a tab called "What's New", so that you can see what has been recently submitted. With Halloween around the corner, this app can be fun to search for local haunts, but I can see using this beyond Halloween to check out the new spooky stories being entered. There are options to add photos of the locations and the stories range from simple explanations of why it is considered haunted to the full story of the supernatural.

A few famous haunts included in this app are the Winchester House, the Amityville Horror House, the Lizzie Borden House, and the Myrtles Plantation. If you haven't heard of these and like ghost stories, I suggest you check them out. I was particularly excited to see a few locations I have visited in the app! I recently visited Fort Macon in Atlantic Beach, NC. While most soldier forts are said to be haunted, we thought nothing of it. But after searching the app, I was excited to read that apparitions of men in civil war uniforms have been seen pacing the fortress walls. There are also a few places near me that I found that I am planning to go check out this Halloween!

Pros

  • Great stories about haunted locations
  • Library continues to get bigger

Cons

  • Costs $0.99
  • Only available on iOS devices right now

Final Verdict

This app does cost $0.99, but to me was worth the stories and finding new locations near me. It will also come in handy next year as new locations seem to be added in frequently. If you are a fan of the paranormal or just want to get in the Halloween mood, this app is for you!
